With the help of local Kiwanians and Northern Illinois University students,
much progress has been made at the Glidden Homestead this Spring
in cleaning and restoring the site.

Members of Kishwaukee Kiwanis help with the work of restoring the Homestead's Mill House. It will be used as a working Blacksmith Shop. A $16,000 Tourism Grant from the State of Illinois will help with the restoration effort.

NIU students helped clean out the barn, basement and garage as part of NIU Cares
Day April 19. They also cleaned out gutters and helped scrape paint at the Homestead, with
assistance from NIU President John Peters (center photo above).
NIU students helped all types of non-profit organizations
in the community on NIU Cares Day.
